Overview and Gameplay
A stream of colored tiles moves along a conveyor above a five-lane grid, and the challenge is to catch, sort, and stack them into matching groups before the system overflows. Klax focuses on quick planning and pattern building, where arranging three or more identical tiles triggers clears and score gains while the conveyor steadily accelerates.
The core loop is simple but demanding: intercept incoming tiles, decide where each one should go, and build combinations that clear space efficiently. As the pace increases, positioning becomes more important than reaction speed alone, especially when multiple tile types appear in rapid sequences.
Controls And Mechanics
- Move across lanes to position the catcher under incoming tiles
- Collect tiles and place them onto the stacking grid
- Create horizontal, vertical, or diagonal matches of identical tiles
- Clearing larger groups increases score and stabilizes the playfield
- Difficulty rises through faster conveyor movement and denser tile patterns
- Two player mode alternates turns, comparing scores rather than simultaneous play
