Overview and Gameplay
Rohan enters the Risky Woods to free monks turned to stone by the evil Draxos. This Sega Genesis action platformer mixes projectile combat, timed stages, treasure hunting, and short memory puzzles at locked gates. Each zone contains two action stages followed by a guardian battle. Every good monk must be rescued before the exit can be cleared.
Controls And Mechanics
- Move and attack: Run, duck, collect items, jump, throw the equipped weapon, and chant at gates.
- Weapons: Knives, axes, boomerangs, fireballs, magic daggers, and morning stars can replace or strengthen Rohan’s current attack.
- Armor: Collected links build silver and gold armor, reducing damage from ordinary enemies.
- Gate puzzles: Find both key halves, then repeat the gatekeeper’s directional sequence.
- Progression: The game includes four zones, boss battles, limited lives, a timer, score bonuses, and helpful or harmful treasure.
Version Notes
The USA and European editions share the same game version. In Japan, it was released separately as Jashin Draxos. The Genesis conversion changes the computer editions’ shop system, adds armor-link progression, and uses gatekeeper memory puzzles.
