Overview and Gameplay
Pac-Man becomes the key piece in Pac-Attack, a Namco falling-block puzzle game based on Cosmo Gang the Puzzle. Blocks, ghosts, and Pac-Man pieces drop into the playfield, and the player must keep the stack low while setting up ghost-clearing routes.
Blocks vanish when they complete horizontal rows, while ghosts are eaten when Pac-Man travels through them after being placed. The SNES version includes normal score play, a 100-stage puzzle mode with passwords, and a competitive two-player versus mode.
Controls And Mechanics
- Move falling clusters sideways or downward and rotate them before they land.
- Pac-Man clears ghosts along his path, so the direction he faces can decide whether a setup succeeds.
- A fairy meter fills as ghosts are eaten; when full, the fairy can clear groups of ghosts below her.
- In two-player versus, clearing enough ghosts can send extra ghosts to the opponent’s field.
Version Notes
- This is the European SNES release, cataloged with the internal title PAC ATTACK.
- The game is also known by the alternate title Pac-Panic.
