Overview and Gameplay

Comic-style close-up panels frame the ring action in HammerLock Wrestling, a Jaleco SNES wrestling game built around fictional wrestlers, grapples, pins, submissions, count outs, and tag-team matches.

The game includes exhibition matches, tournament play, a champion league, and a top-ranking mode. Players choose from 12 wrestlers and fight under pro wrestling rules, with the main action shown in the center and dramatic move cut-ins displayed above and below the ring.

Controls And Mechanics

  • Move into an opponent to start a grapple, then choose throws, slams, whips, or other wrestling moves.
  • Standing attacks include punches, kicks, running attacks, and special attacks.
  • Downed opponents can be pinned, picked up, or targeted with follow-up moves.
  • Tag matches support multiplayer competition, including simultaneous tag-team play with the proper adapter.

Version Notes

This is the North American SNES release of the Japanese Super Famicom game Tenryu Genichiro no Puroresu Revolution, localized without the Japanese wrestler branding.
