Overview and Gameplay
Chavez is a Spanish-language SNES boxing game starring Julio César Chávez and built from the same base as Riddick Bowe Boxing. The main career mode lets the player create a boxer and fight through the roster toward Chávez.
Matches use a behind-the-boxer view with jabs, hooks, uppercuts, body shots, blocking, knockdowns, timed rounds, and one-on-one exhibitions. The game also includes single-player bouts and competitive two-player matches using roster boxers or a career-created fighter.
Controls And Mechanics
- The directional pad moves the boxer, ducks, returns upright, and helps a boxer rise after a knockdown.
- X and Y throw right and left jabs, while A and B throw right and left hooks.
- Uppercuts and body blows use the same punch buttons with stance or direction changes.
- L and R circle around the opponent, and together they block with both arms.
- Two-player mode is competitive boxing, not cooperative play.
Version Notes
This release is the Julio César Chávez-branded Spanish-market version related to Riddick Bowe Boxing. It is separate from Chavez II, which is based on a different boxing game.
