Overview and Gameplay

Borf’s Infanto Ray turns hero Ace into the younger Dexter, leaving him to rescue Kimberly through a harsh sequence of traps, aliens, and vehicle scenes. Space Ace on SNES adapts the LaserDisc arcade premise into side-scrolling action, platforming, maze, and chase stages rather than full-motion timing prompts.

Progress is built around memorizing scripted hazards, jumping across gaps, avoiding enemy fire, and using temporary Ace transformations when the watch signals a chance to energize.

Controls And Mechanics

  • Dexter moves through scrolling stages and maze scenes, with some sections changing how movement behaves.
  • Jump timing is strict, and holding the jump button affects distance.
  • After energizing, the player can aim the sight and fire Ace’s laser.
  • Power-up disks improve shots, speed up aiming, open practice warps, or grant extra lives.
  • The SNES version is a solo game with no versus or co-op mode.
