Overview and Gameplay

Mujoe and the Hige Hige bandits shrink Max and Bomberman to ant size with the Mini-Mini Device. Max crosses five themed stages and clears areas by defeating enemies, destroying targets, collecting Charaboms, and reaching exits before time expires. Branching gates connect cleared and uncleared areas, while bosses guard each stage.

Charaboms provide field abilities and can be raised, battled, and merged into stronger forms. Battle Game supports Charabom matches, while Pitch Area transfers version-exclusive areas between compatible cartridges.

Controls And Mechanics

The Control Pad moves Max. A places bombs and confirms choices. B uses the active Charabom ability, cancels choices, or detonates bombs after collecting the Remote Control. L and R open Charabom selection, Start pauses, and Select opens the pause menu.

Power-ups increase bomb capacity, blast range, and movement speed. Other items grant temporary invulnerability, an extra hit, or additional lives. Sandals reduce speed. Losing all lives ends the run.

Link Cable features include two-player Charabom battles, Charabom merging, and area exchange. Single-Pak competitive play supports up to four players in a separate Charabom arena.

Version Notes

Red Advance stars Max and contains its own Charabom selection and area set. The companion Blue Advance edition stars Bomberman. Linking both editions allows each cartridge to receive the 20 areas stored in the other version.
