Overview and Gameplay

Framed for Black Bomberman’s bank robbery, White Bomberman must blast out of prison, track down the culprit, and clear his name. The solo campaign contains 48 stages across six areas, mixing fixed rooms with wider scrolling layouts. Clear each stage by destroying every enemy and uncovering the exit beneath a breakable block.

Controls And Mechanics

  • Move with the directional pad and press A to place bombs.
  • Bomb blasts travel in four directions, breaking soft blocks and defeating enemies.
  • Power-ups increase bomb capacity, blast range, and speed, or grant abilities such as wall passing, bomb passing, fire protection, and remote detonation with B.
  • Hidden symbols can unlock timed bonus rounds with invulnerability, scoring opportunities, and extra lives.
  • Two players can compete simultaneously in VS Mode. A separate Battle Mode supports three players with a Four Score, but play remains competitive rather than cooperative.

Version Notes

The North American NTSC edition keeps the Bomberman II title, while the European PAL release is called Dynablaster. The English editions remove a cross from a church image and use digits in the password alphabet. The U.S. version also avoids the slower 50 Hz timing of the European release.
