Overview and Gameplay
ChuChu Rocket! follows space mice escaping from KapuKapu cats through a network of launch pads. ChuChus move automatically, so each stage requires directional Arrow Panels that redirect them toward rockets and away from hazards.
Puzzle mode provides a limited set of panels and asks the player to rescue every ChuChu. Stage Challenge sets specific objectives under a 30-second limit and records completion times. The cartridge also contains 2,500 archived player-created puzzles, plus editors for custom stages and animated characters.
Controls And Mechanics
The directional pad moves the cursor. Arrow Panels remain on the floor until replaced or destroyed, with only three active at once. KapuKapus can weaken panels, eat ChuChus, enter rockets, or force a failed puzzle. Puzzle controls also allow the last panel to be removed, the simulation to start, and movement to accelerate.
Link-cable Battle supports two to four simultaneous competitors using one cartridge. Each participant directs ChuChus toward an assigned rocket, while special mice can trigger roulette effects or add 50 ChuChus. Team Battle uses two teams of two under the same scoring rules.
