Overview and Gameplay
F-Zero: GP Legend follows revived detective Rick Wheeler as he joins the Galaxy Mobile Platoon and enters the F-Zero circuit. Story Mode presents races and objective-based missions for eight unlockable pilots, including rival battles, survival challenges, and timed finishes.
Grand Prix places one pilot against 29 rivals across five-race cups, with finishing positions awarding championship points. Time Attack records lap and total times, Training provides adjustable practice races, and Zero Test contains 48 short driving challenges ranked with bronze, silver, or gold results.
Controls And Mechanics
The directional pad steers and adjusts the machine during jumps. A accelerates, B brakes, and the shoulder buttons control drifting, side attacks, and boosting. A timed accelerator press produces a fast start, while releasing and pressing A during a turn performs a Blast Turn.
Boosting, collisions, hazards, and rival attacks drain the machine’s energy meter. Pit areas restore energy, while complete depletion destroys the machine. Grand Prix allows a restart when a spare machine remains.
Game Link Cable races support two to four simultaneous competitors. Single-Pak play uses one course and machine type, while Multi-Pak play allows unlocked machines and cleared circuits.
Version Notes
The Japanese release was titled F-Zero: Falcon Densetsu and supported Nintendo e-Reader cards. The North American version uses the GP Legend title and unlocks card-associated machines through normal progression.
