Overview and Gameplay
Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong disappear while exploring the Northern Kremisphere, leaving Dixie Kong and Kiddy Kong to search for them. The pair crosses lakes, forests, factories, cliffs, caves, and the added Pacifica region while confronting the Kremlings, KAOS, and Baron K. Roolenstein.
Stages feature climbing, swimming, barrel cannons, moving vehicles, animal helpers, hidden bonus rooms, and boss battles. Bonus Coins open routes through Krematoa, DK Coins unlock Funky’s Gyrocopter, and rescued Banana Birds lead toward the extended ending. Cranky’s Dojo, Swanky’s Dash, and Funky’s vehicle challenges provide additional activities.
Controls And Mechanics
Dixie uses her Helicopter Spin to glide, while Kiddy rolls through enemies, breaks weak floors, and skips across water. Team-Up lets one Kong carry and throw the other toward enemies, collectibles, or hidden paths. DK Barrels restore a missing partner, Star Barrels mark checkpoints, and losing the final active Kong costs a life.
Collecting 100 bananas or all four KONG letters grants an extra life. Bear Coins pay for services and activities, while trade items exchanged among the Brothers Bear reveal new routes and secrets. Two-Player Team Mode uses alternating cooperative turns, with one player assigned Dixie and the other Kiddy.
Version Notes
This Game Boy Advance adaptation adds Pacifica, the Kroctopus boss, new minigames, additional collectibles, redesigned maps, save-anywhere support, and a new soundtrack composed by David Wise.
