Overview and Gameplay
F-Zero Climax sends anti-gravity machines through high-speed circuits filled with sharp turns, boost plates, mines, jumps, ice, and exposed edges. Grand Prix spans four cups and multiple difficulty levels, with race points determining each final standing. Survival mode adds objective-based events such as duels, slaloms, speed targets, crash avoidance, and rival takedowns. Time Attack records lap and total times, Zero Test presents timed driving trials, and Edit mode lets players build and save custom courses.
Controls And Mechanics
The directional pad steers, brakes, and controls landings after jumps. A accelerates, B activates boost, L and R slide the machine, and double taps perform side attacks. Pressing L and R together triggers a spin attack. Boosting consumes energy, while track-side pit areas restore it. Completing laps also grants stored reactor boosts, with up to two held at once. Losing all energy destroys the machine and ends the race.
Game Link Cable play supports simultaneous two-to-four-player versus races. Single-Pak play uses fixed content, while Multi-Pak play supports unlocked tracks and compatible custom courses.
