Overview and Gameplay
bit Generations: Dotstream is an abstract side-scrolling race in which a colored dot moves continuously to the right and leaves a line behind it. Each course pits the player against five computer-controlled lines across geometric barriers, moving hazards, dash panels, slowdown areas, and forced-direction panels.
Campaign contains six Grand Prix sets of five courses. Finishing positions award points, and the highest total after five races wins the set. Spot Race replays unlocked courses for best times. The unlockable Formation mode adds lines as energy is collected, building a controllable formation of up to seven lines.
Controls And Mechanics
The directional pad moves the line vertically, while straight horizontal travel preserves speed. Following closely behind a rival fills the slip meter and raises speed. The A Button uses a held item, B brakes or exits the pit early, and R spends one boost for a speed burst.
The boost reserve also absorbs damaging collisions. A hit consumes one boost, and another hit with none remaining ends the race. The pit restores boosts up to nine at the cost of time. Items can permit passage through obstacles, slow rival lines, or remove moving hazards from the screen.
