Overview and Gameplay
River City High has fallen under Slick and the Dragon Twins, and Ryan’s girlfriend Cyndi has been captured. Alex and Ryan cross interconnected streets, parks, malls, and schools, defeating gangs and their bosses before entering the high school.
Enemies drop money used in shops for food, equipment, stat increases, and fighting techniques. Saved characters retain attributes, possessions, and learned moves for later runs. Computer-controlled allies and recruited former enemies can join the active fighter.
Controls And Mechanics
Fights use punches, kicks, jumps, running attacks, grabs, throws, and context-sensitive aerial moves. Bats, chains, rocks, and other objects can be swung, thrown, kicked, or carried between encounters. Stamina serves as health, while willpower affects a fighter’s condition at low stamina.
The inventory stores up to 12 items and 12 techniques. Five difficulty settings and adjustable options change enemy numbers, movement speed, damage, gravity, weapon behavior, and ally rules. A Fight Log tracks 12 performance characteristics instead of a conventional arcade score.
Version Notes
This Game Boy Advance remake expands the NES original with redrawn graphics, additional techniques, recruitable allies, adjustable rules, and persistent character files. Its Link Cable feature transfers character data for computer-controlled use.
