Overview and Gameplay
Bases Loaded 3 replaces the series’ season format with exhibition games built around one demanding goal: play clean enough to earn a perfect rating. The North American NES edition features 12 fictional teams, an editable team, three ballparks, lineup changes, substitutions, and a CPU-versus-CPU Watch mode. In solo play, mistakes lower your rating, while strong defensive plays can add points. Better results raise the opponent level, and the final challenge is defeating a Level 5 team with a displayed rating of 100.
Controls And Mechanics
- Batting: Move in the box, swing high, level, or low, and use Select to bunt.
- Pitching: Aim with the directional pad, start the delivery with A, and adjust speed or movement during the windup.
- Fielding: Move defenders, throw toward the chosen base, dive, leap, or run with the ball. Immediate throws are faster than delayed ones.
- Baserunning: Advance, steal, return, or stop runners individually.
- Multiplayer: Two players compete head-to-head with separate controllers.
Version Notes
The U.S. release uses the Bases Loaded name and Ryne Sandberg endorsement. Its Japanese counterpart is titled Moe Pro! ’90: Kandō Hen. The North American cartridge uses MMC3 hardware rather than the Japanese board’s Jaleco mapper and speech hardware.
