Overview and Gameplay
Time-space rebels have scattered famous historical figures across the wrong eras, leaving Bill and Ted to restore history before their concert. This single-player NES adventure uses an isometric view and combines exploration, conversations, inventory puzzles, jumping, and phone-booth travel.
Each rescue involves finding a replacement telephone number, navigating the Circuits of Time, questioning local characters, locating a hidden bait item, and persuading the correct historical figure to enter the booth. Rescue requirements increase across six levels, with telephone-number passwords recording progress.
Controls And Mechanics
- The directional pad moves Bill or Ted, navigates menus, selects time routes, and steers horses or canoes.
- A jumps, selects digits, advances dialogue choices, and launches the phone booth.
- B uses inventory items, confirms responses, and deletes telephone digits.
- Coins fund time travel, while keys provide escape from jail. Pudding, firecrackers, textbooks, and music items help control hostile locals.
- Offering incorrect bait can send the active character to jail. Being jailed without a key ends the game.
