Overview and Gameplay

Asuka and Maya pilot transforming Aurawing fighters against the returning forces of Atlantis in Crisis Force, a Japan-only Famicom shooter from Konami. Seven vertically scrolling stages move through ruined cities, volcanic terrain, oceans, ancient ruins, and a boss-heavy final fortress. Each craft can switch among forward, side, and rear offense forms, letting players adapt their firing coverage to enemy formations and confined terrain.

Controls And Mechanics

  • Use directions to move, B to fire, and A to cycle between the three forms.
  • Hold B and press A to spend a bomb. Red and blue weapon items provide different shot types, with upgrades shared across all forms.
  • Weapon power doubles as protection: a hit lowers the current power level, while a hit at base power destroys the craft.
  • Collect five combination parts to activate a temporary super form. In simultaneous two-player co-op, both Aurawings merge and the partners divide movement and weapon duties.
  • Speed items, bomb stock, score-based extra lives, and limited continues shape each full run.

Version Notes

This is the original Japanese Famicom release. It was not officially released for the North American or European NES.
