Overview and Gameplay

A great white shark stalks the tropical waters while you pilot a boat between two ports, dive for conch shells, and prepare for a final confrontation. Jaws is a compact NES action game built around repeated sea encounters rather than numbered stages.

Underwater, the diver shoots jellyfish, rays, and smaller sharks while collecting shells. Ports exchange those shells for a receiver and stronger attack power. Jaws regains strength when you surface, so upgrades are essential. After draining its power meter, you must use a strobe to make the shark leap and strike it with the boat.

Controls And Mechanics

  • Directions: Move the boat, diver, mini-sub, or seaplane.
  • A: Stops or turns the diver and performs contextual actions such as dropping bombs or activating a strobe.
  • B: Fires weapons and controls the boat’s final thrust.
  • Start: Begins or pauses the game.
  • The mini-sub provides faster movement, torpedoes, bombs, and protection from one collision.
  • This is a single-player game with no multiplayer mode.
