Overview and Gameplay
Commandos is a top-down World War II action-strategy game built for Famicom and NES hardware. An Allied soldier enters enemy territory to complete eight missions centered on objectives such as rescue, escort, demolition, mine operations, defusal, and assassination.
Each mission presents a distinct operation with enemy soldiers, obstacles, and interactive locations. Completing the assigned objective advances the campaign, while a save system preserves progress between missions.
Controls And Mechanics
The directional pad moves the soldier and navigates menus. Action buttons perform mission interactions and other context-sensitive commands. Success depends on reaching objectives, avoiding or confronting enemy patrols, and using the environment required by each operation.
Version Notes
This edition is the original Chinese-language, unlicensed release. Mars Production adapted the Commandos concept into a simplified mission-based format for 8-bit hardware. A later English fan translation circulated under the title Allied Death Squad, while this release retains Chinese text.
