Overview and Gameplay
Chen, an intelligent dinosaur, crosses side-scrolling stages to rescue his captured family from Dr. Crachi. This unlicensed Taiwanese platformer uses Sonic-like slopes and loops, but its core play centers on running, jumping, avoiding hazards, and touching goal posts.
Seven stages span four worlds. Several levels have multiple exits that can skip stages or send Chen backward, giving progression an unusual branching structure. The NES version has no stage-ending bosses.
Controls And Mechanics
- Use the directional pad to move and a single action button to jump.
- Coins absorb one hit; damage removes the full supply, with up to two coins scattering for recovery.
- Collecting 100 coins grants an extra life and resets the counter to zero.
- A star pickup awards 50 coins. Losing a life restarts the current stage.
Version Notes
The cartridge was released without Nintendo authorization. Its packaging uses Jurassic Boy, while the title screen displays Jurassic Boy 2. This is the original NES version; the later Game Boy Color adaptation changed progression and added bosses.
