Overview and Gameplay
Jack Slater pursues Benedict across movie sets and the real world in this NES adaptation of Last Action Hero. The single-player campaign mixes side-scrolling combat with platforming, sending Jack through Los Angeles streets, a medieval Hamlet fantasy, buildings, rooftops, a cinema, and an on-foot freeway chase.
Progress comes from reaching exits, climbing between floors, surviving environmental hazards, and defeating bosses. Ordinary enemies often respawn, so avoiding unnecessary fights can be as important as attacking.
Controls And Mechanics
- Use the directional pad to walk, crouch, and enter stairs or doorways.
- Attack at close range with punches and directional kicks.
- Jump across gaps, vehicles, furniture, and incoming hazards.
- Heart pickups restore health, while losing all health costs one of Jack’s five starting lives.
- The game has no multiplayer mode, score-chasing system, password, or save feature.
