Overview and Gameplay
Nemo enters Slumberland to rescue its kidnapped king from the King of Nightmares. This NES platformer combines precise jumping with exploration: most dreams require Nemo to collect a set of keys before reaching the exit.
Nemo can feed candy to friendly animals, then ride or transform into them. Frogs leap and swim, moles dig, lizards climb walls, hornets fly, and other creatures open routes that Nemo cannot cross alone. The eighth and final dream replaces the key hunt with combat-focused stages and bosses.
Controls And Mechanics
- Directions move Nemo and control compatible animal forms.
- A jumps, with height affected by how long it is held.
- B throws candy or uses an animal form’s attack.
- Select returns Nemo to his normal form.
- Start pauses the game.
Hazards, limited health, backtracking, and a demanding final area make the adventure challenging. The game is strictly single-player.
Version Notes
The Japanese Famicom release is titled Pajama Hero Nemo. The U.S. version uses a redesigned title screen and removes cigars from Flip and the gorilla’s in-game sprites.
