Overview and Gameplay
When the Prince of Darkness escapes, four bell-bearing heroes answer the emperor’s call. Little Samson is a single-player NES action platformer built around switching among Samson, Kikira, Gamm, and K.O. Each hero has distinct attacks, movement, size, and durability. After four introductory stages, the party travels through a mostly linear sequence of varied areas, collecting health upgrades and potions while defeating frequent bosses. Normal difficulty includes the complete final sequence and ending.
Controls And Mechanics
- Samson throws bells and climbs walls and ceilings.
- Kikira breathes fire, charges a stronger shot, and can fly briefly.
- Gamm punches in four directions, withstands heavy damage, and crosses floor spikes safely.
- K.O. climbs surfaces, runs across water, enters narrow passages, and plants timed bombs.
- Each character has a separate health meter and potion supply, while lives are shared. Start opens the submenu for changing characters or using a potion.
Version Notes
The North American release renamed the Japanese game Seirei Densetsu Lickle and changed Lickle’s name to Samson. Its title presentation and selected graphics were localized, while the core gameplay remained closely aligned with the Famicom edition.
