Overview and Gameplay
A swarm of insects creeps down a garden field as a segmented millipede snakes through mushrooms, forcing constant movement and precise shooting to survive wave after wave of escalating chaos. The objective is simple but demanding: clear insect formations, break apart the millipede, and manage the growing field of obstacles while keeping space open for survival.
Each segment of the millipede transforms the playfield as it is destroyed, while mushrooms gradually reshape movement paths and enemy behavior. Special insects appear in timed patterns, adding pressure and forcing quick decisions as waves increase in intensity. The loop centers on survival, score chasing, and controlled space management across progressively harder stages.
Controls And Mechanics
- Movement across the playfield to position the character under threats or open lanes
- Shooting upward to destroy millipede segments and insect enemies
- Environmental mushrooms block movement paths and alter enemy routes
- Destroying certain enemies produces score bonuses and temporary relief from pressure
- Two-player mode uses alternating turns, each player competing for a higher score
Version Notes
The NES release is based on Atari’s arcade original but adapted for home play with a simplified control setup. The Japanese release features an alternate subtitle and different narrative framing while retaining the same core gameplay structure.
