Overview and Gameplay
Solvalou enters a series of warped regions controlled by the Xevious forces while searching for the supercomputer GAMP. Each vertically scrolling area contains a hidden condition that must be completed before the route advances. Objectives include entering a specific cloud, rescuing the Phantom aircraft, destroying selected ground structures, opening concealed passages, or choosing the correct exit.
Missing an objective causes the area to repeat, while destroyed ground targets remain cleared. Enemy attacks become harsher after repeated failures, and reaching a fifth pass costs one life. The campaign moves through open landscapes, forests, caves, tunnels, narrow corridors, and the interior of an Andor Genesis fortress.
Controls And Mechanics
The directional pad moves Solvalou. B fires the Zapper at airborne enemies, while A launches the Blaster at ground targets marked by the targeting sight. Destroyed enemies and structures award points, but progression depends on solving each area condition.
Rescuing the Phantom aircraft unlocks colored capsules. The black capsule provides a one-hit barrier, yellow expands the ground-target sight and blast radius, and blue adds rear-firing shots. These upgrades remain active until Solvalou is destroyed. A hidden Super Zapper can also destroy normally resistant Bacura obstacles.
