Overview and Gameplay
Jajamaru sets out to rescue the real Princess Sakura after discovering that the princess saved in his previous adventure was an impostor. This sequel shifts the series into right-scrolling platform stages filled with yokai, traps, breakable blocks, and timed exits.
The game contains 20 scenes, alternating between scrolling courses and boss battles. Jajamaru can avoid enemies or defeat them with shuriken, while collecting souls, valuables, power-ups, and time bonuses for a higher score. Later scenes increase the enemy pressure, and completing scene 20 returns the game to the beginning.
Controls And Mechanics
- Move: Use the directions to run and guide jumps. Holding down while jumping lets Jajamaru drop through certain platforms.
- Attack: Throw shuriken at enemies. On Gamapakkun during Namazu Dayu battles, the attack fires flames instead.
- Power-ups: Items can grant invisibility, stronger shuriken, faster movement, enemy-freezing flashes, extra lives, or a ride on Gamapakkun.
- Players: This version supports solo play only.
Version Notes
This is the original Japanese Famicom release. It did not receive a contemporary North American or European NES cartridge edition.
