Overview and Gameplay
Toxie takes on Dr. Killemoff after the other Toxic Crusaders are captured. This NES version is a side-view action game built around brawling, short platforming challenges, and stage hazards across Tromaville, the high school, the factory, the highway, the sewers, and Island City.
The player fights through each level, watches the energy meter, collects food to recover health, and uses toxic waste cans to raise the mop power. The game is a solo late-era licensed NES release rather than one of the console’s widely celebrated standouts.
Controls And Mechanics
- Movement: The directional pad moves Toxie left and right, and also shifts him between the foreground and background lanes.
- Jumping and attacks: Toxie jumps, swings his mop, and can use a stronger swipe.
- Mop levels: Higher mop levels add projectile and returning-mop attacks, while damage can reduce mop strength.
- Progression: Each stage leads toward a boss or major enemy encounter, with limited chances and a password system for continuing.
- Multiplayer: This NES version is for one player only.
