Overview and Gameplay

Goku and Bulma search for the seven Dragon Balls across forests, villages, deserts, caves, and enemy strongholds. This French-language European NES release combines overhead exploration, close-range combat, side-view platforming, boss fights, and searches for keys, capsules, and hidden routes.

Goku’s power steadily drains even when he is not being attacked, so finding food is essential. The adventure also includes original scenarios beyond the early manga storyline, including a martial-arts competition.

Controls And Mechanics

  • Use the directional pad to move, crouch, and navigate each area.
  • Press A to jump and B to punch or swing the Magic Pole.
  • Hold B, then press A to fire the limited Rafale energy attack.
  • Break objects and open capsules to uncover food, upgrades, keys, points, and Dragon Balls.
  • Start pauses the action, while Select chooses Continue from the title screen.

The game is strictly single-player and has no save or password system.

Version Notes

This is the original PRG0 revision of the European PAL release. Unlike the altered North American game Dragon Power, it retains the Dragon Ball characters and setting. Its text is in French, and some Japanese jokes and imagery were replaced for the European localization.
