Overview and Gameplay

Rash and Zitz descend to Ragnarok’s World to rescue Pimple and Princess Angelica from the Dark Queen. This Sega Genesis port preserves the original game’s full 13-stage campaign, mixing side-scrolling brawls with precision platforming, races, climbing sequences, swimming, bosses, and high-speed vehicle courses.

Combat features punches, kicks, throws, running attacks, and exaggerated Smash Hit finishers. Flies restore energy, while certain enemies and objects can be used as weapons. Later stages increasingly depend on timing, pattern memorization, and avoiding instant-death hazards.

Controls And Mechanics

  • Directional pad: Move, crouch, climb, or double-tap sideways to run.
  • B: Attack, carry, or throw applicable enemies and objects.
  • C: Jump; hold it for a higher jump.
  • Start: Begin or pause the game.
  • Two players can fight through the campaign together in simultaneous local co-op.

Version Notes

The Genesis conversion is more forgiving than the North American NES original. It starts players with five lives, simplifies several hazards and vehicle sequences, reduces some boss endurance, and fixes the late-game second-player Clinger Winger issue. “World” is a preservation-region tag, not part of the public title.
