Overview and Gameplay
Outworld’s war spills into Earth as fighters are drawn into a brutal tournament where survival depends on timing, spacing, and mastering special attacks. This entry pushes the series toward faster-paced combat, introducing a run mechanic that shifts battles into aggressive exchanges rather than slow footsies.
Players choose from a roster of human warriors and cybernetic assassins, advancing through an arcade ladder of opponents that culminates in encounters with Motaro and Shao Kahn. Each fighter has distinct move sets, including projectiles, grapples, and finishing moves that conclude matches in decisive fashion.
The Genesis version adapts the arcade experience into a home format, focusing on tight one-on-one battles and competitive versus play.
