Overview and Gameplay
Rock n’ Roll Racing throws four armed vehicles onto isometric science-fiction tracks, where speed matters as much as well-timed attacks. This influential 16-bit combat racer combines arcade handling, weapon fire, mines, boosts, cash prizes, and Larry Huffman’s energetic commentary. Players race across several planets, earn points by finishing near the front, buy stronger vehicles, and upgrade engines, tires, armor, shocks, weapons, and boost capacity.
Controls And Mechanics
- Left and right steer the car.
- Down applies the brake.
- A fires the forward weapon.
- B accelerates; double-tapping it activates nitro or a jump jet.
- C deploys the rear weapon.
- Two players can race simultaneously in split-screen competition.
Version Notes
The Genesis version adds extra track layouts and an instrumental arrangement of Radar Love. Its graphics, music, and voice reproduction are generally less polished than the original SNES edition, but the additional content makes it a distinct version.
