Overview and Gameplay
Rooks, the son of a fallen Card Master, travels through Elemen after Galneon seizes power and the sealed evil Rimsala threatens to return. This USA SNES release is the English localization of Japan’s Card Master: Rimusaria no Fuuin.
Arcana is a first-person dungeon-crawling RPG with turn-based random battles. Characters, monsters, and spirits are shown as cards, but progression follows classic RPG systems: towns, dungeons, shops, equipment, experience levels, magic, and story chapters.
Controls And Mechanics
- Exploration: move through towns and dungeons from a first-person view, using menus to inspect, map, save, and manage the party.
- Combat: battles use commands for attacks, magic, items, defense, and spirit support.
- Spirits: Rooks can summon elemental spirits such as Sylph, Marid, Efrit, and Dao, with one spirit active at a time.
- Formation: front and back row placement affects how party members and spirits are used.
- Players: this SNES release is for one player only.
