Overview and Gameplay
Caesar walls in the Gaulish village, so Asterix and Obelix set out across the Roman Empire to collect souvenirs and prove they can still travel freely. This European SNES platformer uses the comic license for a long journey through countries such as Britain, Switzerland, Greece, Egypt, and Spain.
The player runs, jumps, punches Romans, collects gold coins, finds stars, survives traps, and clears themed stages. Passwords track progress, while bonus stages and special events add rugby, Olympic, and bullfight-style challenges.
Controls And Mechanics
- Characters: solo play lets the player choose Asterix or Obelix, while two-player mode uses both heroes at once.
- Combat: punches and charged super punches handle most enemies.
- Items: food restores energy, magic potion powers up Asterix, and roast boar powers up Obelix.
- Scoring: bonuses, defeated enemies, and remaining time increase the score.
- Progression: 50 gold coins grant an extra life, and collecting all 10 stars in a level opens a bonus stage.
