Overview and Gameplay
Donkey Kong has been captured by Kaptain K. Rool, leaving Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong to cross Crocodile Isle and rescue him. This SNES sequel builds on the first game with denser secrets, tougher stage layouts, pirate-themed worlds, and two playable Kongs with clearly different movement strengths.
Players clear side-scrolling stages, collect bananas and K-O-N-G letters, find bonus rooms, earn Kremkoins, use animal buddies, and progress across world maps toward boss battles.
Controls And Mechanics
- Diddy can cartwheel and use long jumps, while Dixie can spin her ponytail to slow falls and attack.
- The team-up move lets one Kong lift and throw the other to hit enemies or reach hidden areas.
- Barrels, DK barrels, animal crates, bonus stages, and Kong family locations shape exploration and progress.
- Animal buddies add special movement or attack options in selected stages.
- Two-player modes are alternating: Contest mode compares progress and time, while Team mode splits Diddy and Dixie between players.
Version Notes
This is the Europe Rev 1 SNES version. This PAL revision is associated with French as an alternate language option and bug-fix changes, while the Japanese release used the title Super Donkey Kong 2.
