Overview and Gameplay
Cool Spot sets the red mascot loose on beaches, docks, toy shelves, and other oversized stages to rescue captured Spot friends. Cool Spot is a side-scrolling SNES platformer built around jumping, climbing, shooting bubble-like Cool Shots, collecting Cool Points, and reaching the cage at the end of each level.
Each stage requires enough Cool Points before the lock can be broken. Higher percentages can lead to bonus rounds, while clocks, checkpoints, health items, and time limits shape the run through the eleven main levels.
Controls And Mechanics
- The directional pad moves Spot, aims shots, climbs ropes, and looks around.
- Jump height changes depending on how long the jump button is held.
- Spot can somersault while jumping left or right.
- Cool Shots can be fired in different directions, including aimed shots while standing still.
- Bonus rounds use bottle-and-bubble challenges with continue letters to collect.
- The game is single-player only, with no versus or co-op mode.
Version Notes
The European SNES release keeps the title Cool Spot, but removes direct 7 Up branding used in other regional versions.
