Overview and Gameplay

SimCity turns the mayor’s desk into a city-building simulation on SNES. The player zones residential, commercial, and industrial land, connects roads or rails, supplies power, sets taxes, funds services, and grows the population while handling crime, pollution, traffic, fires, and disasters.

Controls And Mechanics

  • City planning is cursor-based, using menus to place zones, power plants, roads, rails, police, fire stations, and other services.
  • Dr. Wright gives advice as the city grows through ranks such as Village, Town, City, Capital, Metropolis, and Megalopolis.
  • Scenarios add preset crisis goals, while free city building focuses on long-term management and population growth.
  • This SNES version is single-player.

Version Notes

This is the European PAL SNES version. The SNES edition includes Nintendo-specific presentation touches, including Dr. Wright as adviser and Bowser as the monster disaster.

Release And Credits

  • Released for SNES in Europe in 1992.
  • SNES development credited to Intelligent Systems.
