Overview and Gameplay
A magic ruby turns Rookie and his girlfriend into half-human forms, then a demon kidnaps her. Tatakae Genshijin 2: Rookie no Bouken is the Japanese Super Famicom version of the game known overseas as Congo’s Caper, a comic prehistoric side-scrolling platformer with map-based level selection, club attacks, hazards, bosses, and secret stages.
Controls And Mechanics
- Jump or swim with A or B, and attack with X or Y.
- L or R with movement gives Rookie an extra-fast run.
- Rubies restore the monkey form to human form and can power Rookie into a Super form with stronger movement abilities.
- Diamonds, sapphires, slots, enemy bouncing, diving, slope rolling, and hidden routes shape progression.
- Two-player mode is alternating turns, not simultaneous co-op.
