Overview and Gameplay

Cliff Vandercave has kidnapped Pebbles, Bamm-Bamm, Barney, Betty, Wilma, and Dino, leaving Fred Flintstone to fight his way across Bedrock and beyond. The Flintstones is Ocean’s SNES platformer based on the 1994 live-action film.

Fred travels through timed side-scrolling zones such as the quarry, Bedrock, the jungle, the volcano, and the Machine. The game mixes jumping, ledge grabbing, club attacks, thrown stones, bowling balls, score items, bosses, and password-based progress after zones.

Controls And Mechanics

  • directions move Fred, with ducking used to avoid some hazards.
  • A jumps and lets Fred grab ledges when held.
  • Y swings Fred’s club, X throws stones, and B rolls bowling balls.
  • Fred has limited energy, lives, a timer, and collectible projectile supplies.
  • Two-player mode is alternating hot-seat play, not simultaneous co-op or versus play.

This is the Europe/PAL SNES release with English, French, German, Spanish, and Italian language support. It is separate from the USA release, beta builds, and Taito’s different SNES game The Flintstones: The Treasure of Sierra Madrock.
