Overview and Gameplay
Dargon’s forces raid Shorinji, steal the secret Hiryu-no-ken scroll and sacred sword, and challenge Rick at the World Tournament. Ultimate Fighter mixes side-scrolling action stages with one-on-one martial arts battles from Culture Brain’s Hiryū no Ken series.
Story Mode sends Rick through action stages and boss fights, while Animation Mode uses a more command-driven format. VS Tournament and Battle Mode focus on direct fighting matches.
Controls And Mechanics
- Basic play uses movement, guard, punch, kick, jump, and throw or grab actions.
- Magic Water can be used during action stages.
- The KO gauge enables Cosmic Saucer attacks.
- Expert Mode uses the Mind’s Eye System, where attack and defense marks appear on fighters’ bodies.
- Two-player support is competitive versus play, not co-op.
Version Notes
This is the U.S. SNES release, related to Japan’s Hiryū no Ken S versions. The U.S. title is Ultimate Fighter, and the release is based on the updated Hyper Version lineage.
