Overview and Gameplay
Neo N.Y. in 2097 is ruled by Raptor and his mutating Morphs, leaving Slash to fight back with the sword X-Kaliber and rescue Alix. X-Kaliber 2097 mixes side-scrolling sword action with one-on-one boss duels, score, timer, energy, lives, and a separate two-player duel mode.
Controls And Mechanics
- Slash can walk, crouch, jump, swipe, thrust, parry, and fire an energy bolt.
- The sword can be used defensively, including parrying attacks and deflecting projectiles.
- Food items restore energy, while 1-UP items add extra lives.
- Options include difficulty, lives, continues, sound settings, and configurable sword controls.
- Two-player play is simultaneous head-to-head dueling, not co-op.
Version Notes
This is the European PAL SNES release. The game was released in Japan as Sword Maniac, while Western versions use the title X-Kaliber 2097.
