Overview and Gameplay
Professor Xavier sends Cyclops, Wolverine, Psylocke, Beast, and Gambit to Genosha after mutant prisoners and Apocalypse’s forces threaten the island. X-Men: Mutant Apocalypse mixes side-scrolling platform action with brawler-style combat, character-specific opening missions, boss fights, passwords, and later stages chosen from surviving X-Men.
Controls And Mechanics
- Each hero can move, crouch, jump, attack, and perform mutant powers through directional motion inputs followed by attacks.
- Character abilities change the feel of stages, from Wolverine’s wall climbing to Beast’s ceiling grip, Cyclops’ optic blasts, Psylocke’s agility, and Gambit’s explosive cards.
- Health meters, limited attempts, training mode, hazards, robots, monsters, and super-villain battles drive the challenge.
- This SNES version is single-player only, with no two-player or co-op mode.
Version Notes
This is the European PAL SNES release, separate from the earlier U.S. version and the Japanese Super Famicom release.
