Overview and Gameplay

Blobert has escaped from Blobolonia, where an evil emperor has forced everyone to live on sweets. The boy helps him search Earth’s caverns for treasure, trade it for vitamins, and travel back to defeat the ruler.

Progress depends on feeding Blobert different jellybeans. Fourteen usable flavors transform him into tools such as a ladder, bridge, trampoline, umbrella, key, rocket, blowtorch, bubble, and VitaBlaster. The connected screens reward experimentation and route planning rather than ordinary platform jumping.

Controls And Mechanics

  • Movement: Walk, climb transformed Blobert, steer the bubble, and control trampoline height with the directional pad.
  • Jellybeans: Toss the selected flavor to trigger a transformation. Beans are limited, so careless use can force backtracking.
  • Blobert: Whistle to call him or cancel his current form.
  • Progress: Treasure funds vitamins, while five peppermints on Blobolonia award an extra life.

This is a single-player adventure. Blobert follows the boy under computer control.

Version Notes

This is the original North American NTSC release. The later Japanese edition, Fushigi na Blobby: Blobania no Kiki, uses a redesigned title screen and a different boy sprite.
