Overview and Gameplay
Mario trades jumping for demolition work in Wrecking Crew, a puzzle-action game built around clearing construction-site stages with a hammer. Each phase asks the player to destroy the required walls and structures while avoiding enemies and planning the safest route through ladders, floors, bombs, doors, and barrels.
The game includes 100 selectable phases, so progress is less about a straight map and more about solving each building as its own demolition puzzle. Luigi appears in the turn-based two-player mode.
Controls And Mechanics
- The Control Pad moves Mario or Luigi through the building and along ladders.
- Buttons A and B swing the hammer to break walls and obstacles.
- Start begins play, pauses, and resumes the action.
- Select moves the menu cursor.
- Two-player mode is alternating play, not simultaneous co-op.
- Design Mode lets players build custom phases, though normal saving and loading were not available on the original USA NES release.
Version Notes
The NES home version includes Design Mode. The USA release kept Save and Load menu options, but they were not usable without unreleased NES storage hardware.
