Overview and Gameplay

A lone commando assaults D.R.A.T. positions across fixed battlefields packed with soldiers, vehicles, fortifications, and destructible scenery. This NES conversion of TAD Corporation’s 1988 arcade shooter uses a crosshair-based, behind-the-soldier view rather than light-gun controls.

Five levels contain four scenes each, ending in large war-machine battles. Defeating enemies lowers the strength meter, while destroyed buildings can reveal grenades, rapid-fire machine guns, and score-boosting stars.

Controls And Mechanics

  • Move along the foreground and direct the crosshair with the directional pad.
  • Hold A to fire, or tap it after positioning the crosshair to throw a limited grenade.
  • Hold B with a direction to run or perform evasive jumping and ducking rolls.
  • Cover can absorb attacks, but enemy fire and the player’s own shots can destroy it.
  • Two players can fight simultaneously as a cooperative team, with separate scores.

Version Notes

The North American NES edition preserves the arcade game’s five-level, 20-scene structure and simultaneous co-op. Its compact two-button control scheme combines aiming, firing, grenades, running, and rolling, though crowded scenes may produce flicker or slowdown.
