Overview and Gameplay

A warrior awakens from suspended animation in a world rebuilt after global catastrophe, where magic has replaced much of modern technology. In Crystalis, players oppose Emperor Draygon by finding four elemental swords and combining their power into the legendary weapon named Crystalis.

This respected NES action RPG blends fast top-down combat with towns, dungeons, equipment, magic, experience levels, story events, and environmental puzzles. Wind, Fire, Water, and Thunder swords have distinct attacks and uses, while some enemies resist particular elements. Progress depends on gaining levels, upgrading equipment, learning spells, and obtaining key items.
