Overview and Gameplay

Pac-Land follows Pac-Man as he carries a lost fairy through towns, forests, mountains, and waterways to reach Fairyland. Each trip contains three outward rounds and one return journey, with four trips and 16 distinct rounds in this Famicom version. Flying shoes assist Pac-Man during the homeward stages.

Controls And Mechanics

Repeatedly pressing A or B builds running speed, which produces longer and higher jumps. The directional pad makes Pac-Man jump, while the movement buttons adjust his path in midair. Clouds and moving logs serve as temporary platforms, and landing on a ghost’s head is safe.

Power Pellets turn ghosts blue and award increasing points for consecutive captures. Fruit, hidden flowers, balloons, and the BREAK TIME sign provide additional scoring opportunities. Direct contact with enemies, projectiles, or environmental hazards costs a life.

Version Notes

This Famicom conversion contains four trips and 16 distinct rounds before repeating, compared with the arcade game’s larger 32-round structure. Its default controls assign jumping to the directional pad and horizontal movement to A and B.
