Overview and Gameplay
Aliens disguised as people and everyday objects have overrun Earth, sending the Alien Busters through streets, shops, laboratories, nests, and a spacecraft. This 1991 Genesis conversion of Sega’s arcade game mixes belt-scrolling combat with first-person shooting galleries and fast auto-scrolling run-and-gun sequences.
Choose a bazooka user, a flamethrower fighter, or an electrical-whip robot, then clear eight missions, defeat bosses, and manage separate life and weapon-energy meters. Specials can clear the screen, but they consume enough energy to limit normal weapon use.
Controls And Mechanics
- Movement: Run by double-tapping a direction, roll, leap, and combine movement with attacks.
- Combat: Normal weapon attacks use energy, while large special attacks consume more.
- Shooting stages: Move a targeting cursor, destroy disguised aliens and scenery, and avoid hitting civilians.
- Multiplayer: Arcade mode supports simultaneous two-player co-op. A separate mode offers two-player versus battles.
