Overview and Gameplay
Robots, armored athletes, land mines, and ricocheting baseballs turn the sport into a futuristic arcade contest. Super Baseball 2020 places 12 fictional teams in Cyber Egg Stadium, where only deep center field provides a conventional home run.
Single-player League mode covers a 15-game season followed by a championship game for the division winner. Strong plays earn money for improved batting, pitching, and fielding armor or replacement robots. Damaged robots can lose power and eventually break down.
Controls And Mechanics
- Position the batter, aim pitches, move runners, and direct throws with the directional controls.
- Bunt, swing, pitch, jump, dive, steal bases, attempt pickoffs, and throw to specific bases using the action buttons.
- Jump zones boost fielders, stop zones halt rolling balls, and explosive Crackers temporarily disable players.
- Two players can compete simultaneously in a standalone versus game.
Version Notes
This Genesis conversion preserves the field hazards removed from the Super NES port. The separate Japanese Mega Drive release is titled 2020 Nen Super Baseball.
