Overview and Gameplay
ActRaiser mixes sword-driven action stages with godlike civilization building. The player controls the Master, restores six ruined lands, defeats monsters in side-scrolling battles, then guides people from the Sky Palace as they rebuild towns and seal monster lairs.
Its unusual action-and-simulation structure, Yuzo Koshiro soundtrack, and early SNES atmosphere made it one of the system’s more memorable Enix releases.
Controls And Mechanics
- Action Mode focuses on jumping, sword attacks, magic, stage hazards, and boss fights.
- Simulation Mode uses the angel and cursor to direct civilization, fight flying monsters, use miracles, and expand settlements.
- Population growth raises the Master’s experience and improves his strength for later action stages.
- Each land is built around action, town development, lair sealing, and a second action stage.
- The game is single-player only.
Version Notes
The European SNES version includes Action Mode from the start and adds difficulty selection to the main modes.
