Overview and Gameplay

The Lords of Waterdeep send a party beneath the city to investigate evil in the sewers, but the entrance collapses behind them. This SNES dungeon crawler adapts the computer RPG into a first-person, grid-based adventure using Advanced Dungeons & Dragons rules.

You create a four-character party, explore multi-level dungeons, fight monsters in real time, collect keys and equipment, solve traps and floor-switch puzzles, recruit NPCs, rest, memorize spells, and manage food while pushing deeper toward the beholder threat.

Controls And Mechanics

  • The pointer is used to select characters, items, weapons, doors, and interface options.
  • A lock mode lets the directional pad control party movement through the dungeon instead of the pointer.
  • Front-rank characters can attack with melee weapons, while rear characters rely on ranged attacks or spells.
  • Weapons have recovery time after use, so combat depends on timing and party positioning.
  • Resting can restore spells and health, but it can be interrupted by wandering monsters.
  • This version is single-player only.
